Animal Companion Counseling

Nurturing positive change within individuals and our community through the human-animal bond.

Together

We are a group of licensed and experienced mental health professionals. Our goal is to improve the mental health and functioning of our clients through individual and group services including Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI). We envision a world in which there is equitable access to, and delivery of, mental health services for all.

Values-Driven

Safety Approach treatment for individuals while emphasizing safety, security and acceptance.

Community Promote the well-being and long-term sustainability of our community and all of its members.

Equity Ensure equitable access to mental health services for all while prioritizing at-risk and underserved populations. Work along with our animals to overcome the stigma of mental illness and barriers to service delivery.

Understanding Recognize therapy as a dialectical process in which we teach to, learn from and along with, our clients and community. Provide education about the importance of animal welfare and contribute to the evidence base of AAI.

Action Work as individuals and collectively to oppose policies and practices which perpetuate inequity and exploitation of the working class, in order to achieve a more fair and just world. Ensure and promote the welfare of our TAAs and all animals.
